WooCommerce is a cost effective, customizable eCommerce platform intended to easily integrate with your WordPress website.

WooCommerce is the world's most popular open-source eCommerce solution. Add it to any WordPress site and have your store set up in minutes. Whether you have physical or digital goods, need product variations, custom configurations, or instant downloads, WooCommerce can handle them all. Secure payments options and configurable shipping methods are free, out of the box. Countless extensions to add features and extend the functionality of your store are available from the WooCommerce Marketplace.

  • Seamless integration with your WordPress website providing a single platform for your website and online store
  • Scalable with great flexibility for multiple product types
  • Multiple secure payment gateway options
  • Fully customizable and supported by a very large and active community
  • Typically the least expensive option
Disadvantages
  • Can be difficult to manage larger inventories
  • It's WordPress specific and may have speed issues due to WordPress requirements
  • Certain extensions or plugins may require additional cost
  • Updates should be tested thoroughly in a closed environment to ensure there are no conflicts with dependent plugins or themes

Our users love WooCommerce mainly for the helpfulness of the community and a wealth of online resources.

BigCommerce is an enterprise, premium eCommerce software-as-a-service (SaaS) built for businesses with high revenues and larger inventories.

BigCommerce is one of the fastest-growing eCommerce software platforms out there. It helps retailers make billions of dollars in sales; think clients like Toyota, Ben and Jerry's, and Yeti. Because it's a SaaS, you can access your store from anywhere with a browser and the Internet. BigCommerce includes customizable templates and tools to market your products. While it's traditionally thought of for bigger stores, it has a lot to offer smaller businesses as well.

Advantages
  • Enterprise solutions for B2B, wholesale, international, and multi-storefront businesses
  • Essential back-office integrations
  • Customization, functionality, and features
  • BigCommerce Channel Manager simplifies omni-channel selling
  • Excellent SEO capabilities
Disadvantages
  • Best results when used with custom theme, which adds to the project cost
  • Built-in tools have steep learning curves
  • Targeted at businesses looking to accelerate their growth and pricing automatically adjusts as sales volume increases
  • Certain extensions or plugins may require additional cost

Our users love BigCommerce for its considerable number of features, easily created product options, and its SEO capabilities.

Shopify is a cloud-based and hosted commerce platform aimed at starting, growing, and managing a business.

With Shopify, you can build and customize your store and sell across multiple channels in multiple places. Shopify's mission speaks to making businesses easy to start, run, and grow and hopes to remove barriers to business ownership. Shopify began over a decade ago when they built their own store to sell snowboards online.

Advantages
  • Simple to use with a powerful editor and robust inventory management
  • Multiple payment gateway options
  • Extensive library of apps and extensions, full access to CSS, HTML, and Liquid
  • 24/7 support
  • Marketing tools like SEO-additions, discount codes, social media links, and analytics
Disadvantages
  • Price and transaction fees may be an issue for some clients
  • High dependency on apps (which may mean additional cost) vs built-in features
  • Design and customization limitations

Our users love Shopify because of its simplicity, its abandoned cart saving functionality, and that the company is committed to sustainability.
